One of our favorite Thanksgiving songs starts out, "I don't like Thanksgiving, the saddest time of year" (it's supposed to represent the turkey's point of view), but here at KSDS we really LOVE Thanksgiving (sorry, turkeys). Over the years we have amassed a repertoire of funny, poignant, and just plain crazy Thanksgiving songs that highlight a sing-along at the lower school's Thanksgiving Feast. If you've never seen the festivities that happen in the hour before Thanksgiving break dismissal, here's your chance.

It has been a busy fall for the KSDS Lower School Choir. First, we prepared a song for the Playground Build kickoff event. In recent weeks, we've been working hard on music for Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and Veterans Day, with some Shabbat songs for future Ta'am Shabbat appearances thrown in for good measure. In the videos below, the choir performs a piece for Veterans Day entitled "You Are Our Heroes" at Makom, and rehearses "Cranberries Forever," our traditional contribution to the school's Thanksgiving celebration.

Sara R. FuldI have been teaching lower school music at KSDS since the fall of 2004. I received a BA and MAT from Goucher College and have been certified by the State of Maryland to teach both Elementary Education and Music K-12. When I'm not teaching, you might see me running up Greenetree Road, biking through Stevenson, and sitting in the stands at Ravens and O's games. Archives
